Test microphone, meeting audio and screen sharing

Understand the two audio sources, check them independently and diagnose missing sound, echo or unexpected screen sharing.

OfferWoo needs the question and your answer as separate inputs. Your microphone usually captures you. The meeting source captures audio played by the selected meeting tab or, in a supported desktop setup, system audio.

This is separation by source, not recognition of a person’s voice. If two people speak through one shared source, that source alone does not identify them. If speakers play into your microphone, the other person’s words can appear in both inputs.

For the web flow, follow browser interview setup. Browser capture can return a picture without an audio track; MDN documents that audio availability varies by browser and selected source.

Still meters are normal before the meeting begins or while nobody is speaking. You can start once your microphone and meeting audio are connected. On Mac, preflight checks permissions and capture readiness. On the web, select the meeting tab and share its audio. Starting uses your account time; pause if you do not want waiting time to count.

The following test is optional. It helps confirm the selected sources and check for echo; it is not a requirement for starting an interview.

Connect the equipment you will use for the real interview. Wear headphones to reduce meeting sound leaking into your microphone.

  1. Start a test call with another device or person. Keep the second device’s speaker away from your microphone.
  2. Speak while the other person is quiet. Confirm the microphone meter responds.
  3. Stay quiet while the other person speaks. Confirm the meeting meter responds.
  4. If both meters respond strongly to the same speaker, check speaker leakage and the chosen input. Do not infer that speaker identification is working from two moving meters.
  5. Check a short technical phrase, a name and a number once the actual interview transcription is started. The free local meter check only proves sound is present, not transcription accuracy.

The last step starts the normal interview flow and uses time. End the test when finished. Repeat the source check after changing headphones, microphones or meeting applications.

Do not reinstall the app as the first step for every audio problem. Identify which source fails before changing permissions or devices.

Verify the shared picture from the receiving side

Section titled “Verify the shared picture from the receiving side”

Join your test meeting from another device and inspect the picture it receives. Share the same tab, window or desktop you intend to use in the interview. Change between those choices and check again if your workflow requires it.

A cue panel visible on your full desktop can be included in a full-desktop share. A compact window does not guarantee exclusion. A screenshot captured by OfferWoo and a screen broadcast by your meeting app are separate actions; checking one does not verify the other.

Close private messages and unrelated documents before sharing. If the received picture is wrong, stop sharing and select the intended source. Do not rely on a preview that shows only your local arrangement.

Use installation and permissions for OS and browser settings. For the official browser steps, see Chrome microphone permissions. When reporting a failure, include the call setup, OS/browser versions, which meter moved and whether headphones were connected. See troubleshooting for a support template.
